The Administration Department is responsible for coordinating the delivery of public services to the residents of Middlesex Borough. The Department is headed by the Business Administrator, who is appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council. The Business Administrator is responsible for the day to day operations of the Borough, including:

  • Assisting in the preparation of the budget
  • Developing and administering an effective personnel system
  • Prescribing and enforcing rules and regulations for the efficient management of the municipal government
  • Maintaining an ongoing review and analysis of budget operations, work programs and costs of municipal services.

About the Business Administrator

The current Business Administrator is Brandon Goldberg. Brandon joined the Middlesex Borough team in August of 2016 after spending a decade as Chief of Staff and Legislative Director to both Senator Peter J. Barnes III and his father, Assemblyman Peter J. Barnes, Jr. Under Brandon’s direction, FiscalNote named Senator Barnes more effective at passing bills than 87.5% of members of the New Jersey Legislature, particularly effective with bills related to Law Enforcement & Public Safety. Prior to his service to the Legislature, Brandon was a mayoral aide to Mayor George Spadoro of Edison and the Program Monitor of the Edison Community Development office. Brandon’s responsibilities included performing on-site and desk reviews of a $540,000 Community Development Block Grant. Additionally, Brandon established collaborative development plans for creating a downtown area.

Brandon is a graduate of Rutgers University holding three Bachelor’s degrees and was awarded a Master’s Degree from the Edward J. Bloustein School in 2010. Brandon is a lifelong Middlesex County resident and currently resides in New Brunswick.
